Upay and UCSI University Bangladesh Sign Agreement to Build a Cashless Smart Campus

Upay, the mobile financial service (MFS) of UCB Fintech Company Limited, a subsidiary of United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB), has signed a partnership agreement with UCSI University Bangladesh Campus to expand digital payment services in the higher education sector. The initiative aims to transform the university into a modern, cashless smart campus.

The agreement was signed recently at a ceremony held at Banani Club in Dhaka. Ariful Bari Majumder, Chairman and Managing Director of UCSI University Bangladesh, and Shyamal B. Das, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Upay, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. Senior officials from both institutions were also present at the event.

Under the partnership, Upay's QR-based merchant payment system will be introduced across the university campus. This will enable students to make fast, secure, and cashless payments at the cafeteria, bookstore, retail outlets, and other authorized merchants. Students will also be able to pay tuition fees and receive scholarship payments directly through Upay.

The two organizations also plan to introduce RFID-enabled smart student ID cards. The cards will simplify student identification and make access to campus services more efficient, secure, and convenient.
